White Star Line's SS Belgic


White Star Line Belgic 1873-1888

A White Star Line Cargo vessel and passenger tender, ran the Liverpool - South America route. Transferred later to the San Francisco - Hong Kong route under a 5 year contract with the Occidental & Oriental Steamship Company. In 1883 it was sold to a Spanish company and renamed Bilbao. In 1886 it ran aground on the Burbo Bank at the mouth of the Mersey River. Scrapped and salvaged 2 years later.
