SS Oceanic

One of the first White Star Line "Liners" Oceanic. 1871-1896
Oceanic was the first of a quartet (Oceanic, Republic, Baltic and Atlantic) of liners built exclusively for the White Star Line under the new ownership of Thomas Henry Ismay. Often referred to as "The Mother of Modern Liners." First ship to have promenade decks and running water with bathtubs for it's passengers. Involved in a collision with the City of Chester (which sank) at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco in 1882. She was eventually scrapped in 1896.
