SS Delphic

Built by Harland and Wolff in 1887, Delphic worked the New Zealand trade. She served as a troop transport during the Boer War. On 2/16/17 Delphic narrowly escaped being hit by a torpedo fired by U-60 when she was off southwest Ireland. In March of the same year, she was taken over under the Liner requisition Scheme and on 8/17/17, Delphic was torpedoed by UC-72 135 miles of Bishop Rock during a voyage from Cardiff to Montevideo with a cargo of coal. Five killed.
