SS Ionic (2nd)


WSL Ionic (2nd) 1903-1936

Ionic (1903) was a sister ship to Athenic and Corinthic. She was originally built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast as a refrigerated meat transport and ran the New Zealand route. She was used as a troop transport in WWI and was the rescue ship to the crew of French vessel Daisy, that had run aground on the Grand Banks, In 1934 she was sold to the Shaw Savill and Albion line and scrapped two years later in 1936.
